Spinnaker Cup

Keith Brown's Peterson 47, Aleta cross the finish line in Monterey at 0940 Saturday morning to correct on Jeff Pulford's Bustin Loose and Mike Garl's White Dove to win the dual-scored IRC division of the Spinnaker Cup.  Gary Massari's Phantom Mist and Gerard Sheridan's Tupelo Honey finished later that morning to round out the five IRC finishers in PHRO1.  Scorpio, TNT, Absolute 02, and Animal withdrew late Friday night and diverted to Santa Cruz in preparation for next weekend's regatta.

It was a very light air race.  Scorpio reported seeing true wind ranging from 1-4 knots while motoring from Pigeon Point to the Santa Cruz harbor.  Aleta reported better breeze outside, while White Dove played shifts along the shore until crossing the Monterey Bay and finishing in an early morning 10 knot southerly.

In the PHRO1A, Flash was first to finish, but had no IRC certificate on file.  Morpheus and Kokopelli 2 withdrew and returned to San Francisco.

Kudos to the finishers who show patience and stamina finishing this uncharacteristically light race.
