Background

On October 31, 2007 John Siegel sent an email to approximately 50 local big boat owners inviting them to join together to improve big boat racing in Northern California.  The responses were positive and in late November several owners met at the St. Francis Yacht Club to discuss the possibility of forming an IRC owners group.  The attendees endorsed the concept as a means of promoting, improving and expanding big boat racing in Northern California.

At that meeting a Governing Board was established to create and manage the affairs of an IRC owners association.

At a December 19 meeting at the Richmond Yacht Club, the new board clarified its goals, approved a constitution, and established an IRC series for 2008.

We hope all big boat sailors who race in Northern California will join this organization and further its cause.
